With its uniqueness, Venice is one of the cities that everyone should have the opportunity to visit at least once. Walking along its "calli" and its "campi" there are so many things to see and this itinerary will show you to the most important areas and monuments of the city.
In Piazzale Roma you will find our guide waiting for you who will accompany you throughout the day illustrating the history and all the curiosities of Venice. You will cross the Santa Croce district to Rialto Bridge, the oldest of the four built on the Grand Canal from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Canal itself. You will be amazed by the Mercerie (the shopping street) that will lead you to Piazza San Marco, the heart of the city.
Surrounded by beautiful buildings, it will amaze you with its beauty. The Campanile di San Marco, called by the Venetians "el paròn de casa", or the landlord, is one of the symbols of Venice and the Basilica of San Marco that was built to preserve the relics of St Mark, which according to tradition, were stole from Alexandria in Egypt by two Venetian merchants. Before entering, from the adjacent Piazza dei Leoncini, you will admire the Clock Tower, built between 1469 and 1499, the clock, in gold and blue enamel, marks the hour, day, moon phase and zodiac.
Next to the Basilica is the Doge's Palace, once the residence of the Doge and the seat of the city government at that time. It was directly connected to the prisons by the Bridge of Sighs so called because, crossing it, the prisoners looked at the outside world for the last time.
You will then go to the Orseolo Basin from where we will leave with the gondola and, through various minor canals, you will reach the Grand Canal. The Rialto Bridge, the important Palaces such as Ca 'Farsetti, the site of the town hall and Palazzo Grimani, the largest building on the Grand Canal, the current site of the Court of Appeal, all overlooking the "via maestra acquea". In the gondola you will enjoy the unusual sensations with an ancient flavor provided by the sound of the oars in the water, the passage under the bridges and the voices of the people around you. Leaving the gondola you will have lunch in a restaurant known for its typical local cuisine.
After lunch, a quiet walk awaits you during which you will admire the facade of the La Fenice theater and the imposing Contarini del Bovolo spiral staircase located in one of the most hidden places and definitely a must see. You will continue through the calli, first reaching Campo Santo Stefano, one of the largest in the city. The Accademia Bridge, the southernmost of the 4 bridges over the Grand Canal, next to the Gallery of the same name, offers one of the most beautiful views of Venice. You will visit the church of the Madonna della Salute and through the Zattere you will arrive at P.le Roma from where you will leave by private transport to the hotel.
