Second day
With a private boat and sail towards the island of Murano. Our guide, on board, will explain the day's program.Once in Murano, the island of glass, we will enter a furnace where you can watch a demonstration and learn about the techniques that have been used for over eight centuries. We will go back by boat to reach Torcello the oldest island in the Venice Lagoon. In this oasis of peace you can breathe a pleasant, authentic and quiet atmosphere. It is difficult to believe that, in its moments of maximum splendor, it was even more populated than Venice itself. We will see the Throne of Attila and the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta decorated inside with one of the most popular Byzantine mosaics in Veneto. Finally we will head to Burano fascinating and famous for its lace. The island is characterized by its brightly colored houses so painted, according to legend, by its fishermen to be able to recognize them, upon returning, on days of dense fog.Inside the lace shops we will be able to see their complicated and ancient workmanship. The return to the hotel involves a different route than the outward journey. We will skirt the island of San Francesco, known for the convent of the Franciscan Friars and the island of S. Erasmus, "the vegetable garden of Venice".
